Thi...I was wondering where you'd popped off to. This is one of the biggest problems every author faces; do you chase the money or the feedback of normal readers (as opposed to critics) because they always seem to be mutually opposed? I write for the enjoyment of writing, of putting the words on the page even if they never get seen by anyone after that but recently I've been re-considering whether I should rework some of my stuff and submit it for publishing. Easier for me, I suppose, in that I haven't published for free so don't have the feedback from readers to consider or miss. Have you considered doing both? Publish your novels (which are very good btw) but give away short stories/flash etc. via your site or one of the online story websites? Why can't or shouldn't you have the best of both worlds.

Whatever you decide, don't give up the writing - at least not for too long - you're too good to just disappear.

JBJBnoreply@blogger.com
