I think doing so may have been pushing the credibility of my response just a little bit. lolMarc Nobbshttp://marcnobbs.co.uknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7841149121399394863.post-66691600681017260662010-07-07T13:19:55.085+01:002010-07-07T13:19:55.085+01:00Roni, Thanks for your gracious response. I realise you've read a lot of books since this one, and I wish I'd found the review closer to the time so that we could have had a proper debate about it.

My sincere hope is that reading "Lost & Found" didn't put you off reading my other books.

MMarc Nobbshttp://marcnobbs.co.uknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7841149121399394863.post-15849422527290227442010-07-07T12:56:46.353+01:002010-07-07T12:56:46.353+01:00Clancy, Thanks for you comments. Shame, perhaps when you set one up, Google should send you an 'set up' alert detailing everything that exists so far. mind you, it'd be a big e-mail.Marc Nobbshttp://marcnobbs.co.uknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7841149121399394863.post-22880339134857314252010-07-07T01:50:30.250+01:002010-07-07T01:50:30.250+01:00Hi Marc,

Every month I came up with 5000 to 25000 word stories about this fetish that the editor/publisher used. I was a regular there and often was asked to write more than one story.

As authors, it's our job to get under the skin and into the heads of our characters. You obviously did that and the reviewer somehow confused you with your make believe characters. In my opinion, this is a huge compliment.

I will now duck, because I just know I'm going to get slaughtered. LOL

Hugs
JudeJude Masonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7841149121399394863.post-39806753266452131332010-07-06T23:52:15.444+01:002010-07-06T23:52:15.444+01:00Hi Marc,
I wish I could come back with some good r...Hi Marc,
I wish I could come back with some good references in your book, but I'm sorry to say that whatever instigated my comments over a year ago are long forgotten now. Not because of your book or the comments within, but because I've read well over 100 other books since then and simply can't remember. I'll have to find the time to go back and re-read the book.

That said, I will say that you have some very valid comments.

I do agree that an author can write a story that do not hold their views. Funny how that is something I usually say to other people when they complain about authors.

I think there is a grain of truth that your book touched off a nerve because you aren't an American, especially when making comments about an American president. Kind of like--I can say whatever I want because I'm American, but the patriot that I am won't allow others who aren't to say the same thing. I hope everyone is like that about their own homeland, no matter what country they are from. Unfortunately that isn't always the case.

As for politics in romance, I don't have a problem with that, only when the politics outweigh the romance and the book becomes overburdened with a political agenda. The romance aspect of the book gets lost.

As I said, I can't remember why I felt that way with your review. Hopefully, I'll find some time to re-read your book and contact you with more direct references.

Thanks for the comments,
RoniRoninoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7841149121399394863.post-20745346107251513202010-07-06T23:26:31.505+01:002010-07-06T23:26:31.505+01:00This is an interesting question. I can only answer...This is an interesting question. I can only answer for myself and say that definitely romance can handle controversy. Maybe not all of the readers care for it, but that's okay, because there are plenty of books to choose from.

I don't shy away from political and social commentary just because somewhere along the line we're leading to sexy results. There's plenty of room for interpersonal conflict and that can come down to politics or religion.

This view wasn't to her taste and that's the takeaway.

And also: google alerts.Clancy Nachthttp://twitter.com/clancynachtnoreply@blogger.com
