I can't think of a better title to this entry to be honest. What a week indeed! I can't quite believe just how much has gone wrong this week. It's been one thing after another at work. Leaky pipes leading to sodden carpets. Melting breaker switches leading to four and a half hours without power (not good in an office where EVERYONE works on a computer for just about everything they do). And who's job do you think it is to sort it all out? Not the boss's, that's for sure.
And that's before I get to the volume of work I have that no-one else can do. It's Friday night and I don't recall being this shattered after a week at work in a long, long time.
It's all because of the age of the building to be honest. It's well over one hundred years old. All the pipe-work is lead instead of copper (which put the wind up a few people when they found out. They're not happy that they've been drinking water from lead pipes - even if it has been boiled), and the electricity supply is equally out-dated.
The biggest problem has been the pipes. The plumber has been unable to source the parts he needs to repair the pipe. Fortunately (to some extent) the leaky pipe in on the third floor, which means that we've been able to cut the water supply down and reduce the pressure in the pipes by running water through the toilet overflow so that it doesn't get as high as the leak. All well and good until the toilet sprung a leak too.
So, all in all, I've had a shit week. Let's hope next week is better,
